The best quad tour in Hurghada is rarely the cheapest one, and it is not necessarily the one GetYourGuide shows first. We ranked the desert listings by the two numbers that are hardest to fake — the star rating and how many people who actually booked gave it — and then read what each trip says about riding time, pick-up area and extras. On that basis a 4.9-star desert quad leads the quads, a two-hour Makadi Bay ride is the best cheap option, and a quad-and-buggy combo rated 4.8 is the best desert safari for most visitors.

Prices quoted below are the lowest "from" prices on GetYourGuide when we checked; the product cards on this page show the current price.

How we picked the best quad tours in Hurghada

We did not copy the platform's order. GetYourGuide's own terms say its ranking uses popularity and ratings, but also the revenue a listing brings in, including the commission suppliers pay. Suppliers can raise their commission as part of their marketing. So the first card on a search page is partly an advertisement, not a quality verdict.

We sorted by rating weighed against volume. A 5.0 from six reviews tells you little; a 4.9 held over 3,798 reviews tells you a lot. GetYourGuide accepts reviews only from people who booked the activity, and its terms forbid reviews written or paid for by the supplier, so counts in the thousands are meaningful.

One pattern stood out. The cheapest listings, $10–17, are mostly one option menu sold under many titles (sunrise with breakfast, daytime, or sunset with dinner and stargazing), and they rate 4.1–4.4. Listings with one fixed programme, $23–53, rate 4.7–4.9. We cannot prove why. Our reading: a fixed programme leaves fewer surprises between what you booked and what you get.

Then we checked riding minutes. Most listings do not state them, and we say so for each pick.

The best quad tour in Hurghada: our four picks

Best quad tours in Hurghada, ranked

1

Best overall quad

4.9 stars on 3,798 reviews, the most-reviewed desert listing in Hurghada. Quad, camel ride and an optional BBQ in a 3–4.5-hour trip.

2

Best cheap quad, 2 hours

4.7 on 3,168 reviews at under $17 — the best-rated of the big budget rides. Desert, Bedouin tea and a camel ride.

3

Best from Sahl Hasheesh

4.8 on 2,057 reviews, pick-up on the southern side, with a sunset or a private lagoon option.

4

Best short ride with transfers

4.9 on 1,169 reviews, 2–3.5 hours door to door; dinner and show only if you add them.

1. Desert quad, ATV, camel ride and optional BBQ

This is the most-reviewed desert listing in Hurghada and the best-rated one at that size: 4.9 stars on 3,798 reviews, from about $29. You get a guided quad ride, a camel ride and, if you choose that option, a BBQ dinner under the stars, in 3 to 4.5 hours door to door.

The listing does not publish its route, its distance or how many minutes you ride, so ask before you pay. GetYourGuide shows the operator's name on the listing page; check it, because that company is your contract partner. It costs more than the option-menu rides; the rating suggests bookers think it is worth it.

2. Makadi Bay ATV Tour — the best cheap quad

At about $17 with 3,168 reviews and 4.7 stars, this is the ride we would book for a first, cheap taste of the desert. It is two hours including transfers, so the riding part is short: a review page of the listing puts the drive at around 45 minutes each way from Hurghada. The route passes a rock formation and ends at a natural beach, with Bedouin tea and a camel ride.

Its route matches Makadi Excursions' own Makadi Bay quad (€15 on its own site, pick-up from Hurghada, Sahl Hasheesh and Makadi included, El Gouna €10 extra). GetYourGuide shows the operator's name on the listing page; our Makadi Excursions review explains the match. Review summaries mention friendly guides and good value, and also a very short camel ride and quads that feel tight for tall riders.

3. Sahl Hasheesh quad desert safari

From about $24, 4.8 stars on 2,057 reviews, 2.5 to 5 hours depending on the option. The options are a classic desert ride, a sunset version with camel ride, BBQ and stargazing, and a private guided "Blue Lagoon" tour — a coastal lagoon stop on the Makadi–Sahl Hasheesh side, not Dahab's Blue Lagoon; the listing does not say exactly where it is.

The programme matches that of Sea Horse, a horse stable in Sahl Hasheesh that also runs quads; see our Sea Horse review and check the provider name on the listing. Sahl Hasheesh sits only about 14–15 km in a straight line from the Safari Land stations, so transfers are short, typically 25–30 minutes.

4. Desert quad adventure with hotel transfers

From about $23, 4.9 stars on 1,169 reviews, 2 to 3.5 hours with hotel pick-up, with dinner and a show as options. It fits a half-day between the pool and dinner. The riding minutes are not stated: check the operator's name on the page and ask how long you ride.

Best ATV tour in Hurghada on a budget: are the $10–17 rides worth it?

The cheapest quads on GetYourGuide start from about $10 (a Makadi Bay morning quad), about $10.50, and about $12.50 for a sunset ride.

The "from" price is the bare option. These listings are option menus: the lowest price is usually the daytime ride. Sunrise with breakfast, sunset with dinner and stargazing, GoPro footage and pick-up from Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh or El Gouna are extras that lift the total.

Riding time is not stated. Comparable trips give 40–60 minutes on the quad. Ask before booking, in writing.

Ratings of 4.1–4.4 on large volumes mean most people are happy and a noticeable minority is not. That is fair for a $12 ride; it is a reason to pay $6–12 more for a fixed programme if this is your one desert afternoon.

Who sells them: the sunset quad and the morning quad from about $10 carry the GetYourGuide label of Desert Fox Safari – Makadi Bay & Marsa Alam, and the big desert and Red Sea quad uses the same option menu as Desert Fox's confirmed listings (GetYourGuide shows the operator's name on the listing page). Our Desert Fox review explains why the name belongs to two different companies. The GoPro quad, 4.4 on 2,915 reviews, is sold under the label Quad Tour Safari – Makadi Bay & Hurghada; its page describes about two hours of quad riding, a camel ride listed as two minutes and shared pick-up 25–30 minutes from Makadi or Sahl Hasheesh. The GoPro footage is a paid option. More in our Quad Tour Safari review.

When cheap is fine: you are staying in Hurghada (no pick-up supplement), you want a short ride and you do not care about dinner. When it is not: you want the dinner or stargazing option anyway, because by then the price gap to a better-rated fixed programme has mostly gone.

On Headout a quad with camel and Bedouin camp shows from $5.50, plus a €10 cash "safari fee" per person and €10 for outer-resort pick-up; it has one review.

Best desert safari in Hurghada: quad, buggy, camel and dinner

Best desert safaris in Hurghada

1

Best daytime safari

4.8 on 2,398 reviews. You drive a quad and a buggy, then stop at a Bedouin-style camp with a camel ride and a talk on herbs and oils.

2

Best evening safari with show

4.7 on 1,455 reviews. Quad and buggy towards sunset, dinner and an oriental show in 3–4 hours.

3

Best long super safari on a budget

4.6 on 2,198 reviews, 7 hours: quad and buggy ("spider car"), camel and BBQ dinner, no jeep.

4

Best for all three vehicles

4.6 on 1,304 reviews: quad, buggy and jeep, camel, BBQ dinner and show in 5–6 hours.

A desert safari is a bundle, and the vehicle time inside it is short. A typical combo gives you 30–45 minutes on the quad and 15–30 minutes in a buggy; the rest of the five to seven hours is transfer, a jeep shuttle if there is one, the camp, a camel ride of a few minutes, dinner and the show. Fine for a whole evening out; a lot of sitting if you mainly want to ride.

The "Bedouin village" on these trips is a camp built for the programme 15–35 km beyond the station: tea, flatbread, a camel, a herb "pharmacy" that sells herbs, a souvenir stand. Nothing there is compulsory. The evening show is belly dance, tanoura (the Egyptian whirling-skirt dance) and often a fire act — entertaining cabaret rather than Bedouin tradition.

Our top daytime pick, the quad-buggy-camel combo, runs the same programme as Scorpion Safari's Discovery morning tour, which Scorpion sells on its own site for $35 per adult: 30 minutes on the quad and 15 in the buggy inside three hours. The platform price is higher, but it comes with GetYourGuide's cancellation terms and may include pick-ups the direct page excludes, so it is not a like-for-like saving. The evening pick matches Scorpion's Discovery afternoon tour. Check the provider name on both listings; our Scorpion Safari review has the full programme list.

In summer, avoid the long safaris with an 11:00–12:00 pick-up: the quad leg then starts around 12:30, the hottest hour of the day. Choose a sunrise or sunset version. Our desert safari guide breaks down every component.

Lowest price per person in US dollars, checked on 20 October 2026. The programme is comparable, but the operator, camp, riding time, pick-up area and what is included can differ: open each listing before you pay.

The Headout version has the lower headline price, but it has no reviews yet and adds "governmental taxes and a Safari Land fee" (amount not stated) plus outer-resort transfers, and excludes travel insurance. The GetYourGuide listing has 1,455 reviews. Operator, camp and riding minutes may differ between the two.

Riding time: the best test of any Hurghada quad listing

Listing durations are door to door, and the riding part is much shorter. These are the trips that publish their minutes:

Trip Total time At the controls
Scorpion Safari's Discovery morning tour (own site) 3 h 30 min quad + 15 min buggy
TUI's private premium quad (supplier Travco) 4 h about 90 min: 45 out and 45 back, with 30 at the camp
A local agency's 2-hour quad from Hurghada (archived price list) 2 h 60 min
Sunrise quad and camel 3–5 h "2-hour quad", as the listing states
Desert quad, Bedouin village and camel 3 h 40 km on the quad, as stated
Super or mega safari combos 5–7 h 30–45 min quad + 15–30 min buggy
$10–17 option-menu quads 1–5 h by option not stated; comparable trips 40–60 min

Ask how many minutes you spend on the quad, not how many hours the trip lasts. A seller who cannot answer is telling you something too.

A typical afternoon quad trip from a Hurghada hotel (times vary by seller)
  1. Minibus pick-up at your hotelMakadi and Sahl Hasheesh guests are often collected later; El Gouna, Soma Bay and Safaga guests earlier

  2. Arrival at a safari station in Safari Land, a desert zone of numbered sectors on the Safaga road past the airportScarves and goggles on sale, about €5 each

  3. Safety briefing and a short test lapAsk for a helmet; drivers must be 16 or over

  4. Convoy ride out behind the guide20–30 minutes

  5. Stop at a Bedouin-style campTea, flatbread, a short camel ride, herbs and souvenirs for sale

  6. Ride back to the station20–30 minutes, close to sunset in winter

  7. Minibus back to the hotelAround 17:15 for central Hurghada

One tip the listings never give: ride near the front of the convoy. The guide sets the pace for the whole line, and the riders at the back spend the afternoon in the dust of everyone ahead.

Small groups and private trips: when the best costs more

A private trip gives you your own transfer, guide and start time, but usually the same station and camp as the group ride. What you buy is no convoy and your own pace.

The best-rated option here is the ATV safari to a "sand mountain", shared or private, 4.8 stars on 346 reviews, from about $53 for 2–3 hours. The listing does not say where the sand mountain is; ask the operator. Whether a private price is per person or per group is not always clear; check before you pay.

From El Gouna, the Dry Canyon morning quad is the small-group choice: El Gouna pick-up only, training at the motor park, a 40 km round trip into the "Dry Canyon" (Wadi Belli in tour copy) with fossil shells and corals, 4 hours, 4.3 on 48 reviews. A reseller listing caps the group at 10 and asks for a valid driving licence, unlike almost every other quad in the area. El Gouna's own track, Motoclub Egypt, runs private rides only and books by WhatsApp without published prices. More in our private quad guide.

Best quad or safari for your situation

  • With children under 16: they cannot drive a quad. Book a buggy instead: an adult drives and the child sits beside them (from 4 years on TUI's trips; buggy drivers must be 16 or 18 depending on the seller). The best-rated buggy-only listing is the dune buggy safari, 4.9 on 129 reviews, morning or sunset; check the age in the option and whether the price is per person or per buggy. See quad biking with kids.
  • A couple with one nervous passenger: a buggy, or a double quad where the listing offers one (passenger behind the driver). Some sellers allow single riders only.
  • Staying in Makadi Bay: the Makadi Bay ATV Tour above; pick-up from Makadi is included in the matching direct offer.
  • Staying in El Gouna: the Dry Canyon quad; cheap group quads sold to El Gouna hotels are driven 40–60 minutes south to Hurghada stations.
  • An evening under the stars without a quad: the oasis sunset tour with camel ride and a telescope, 4.7 on 1,001 reviews; its "oasis" is a hill camp reached off-road, not a palm oasis.
  • Not a rider at all: the desert and sea horse ride, 4.9 on 1,634 reviews, with an optional swim.
  • May to September: sunrise or sunset slots only. In July and August coast highs average about 37 °C, and afternoons at the inland camps run about 2–3 °C hotter.

What the best Hurghada quad tours cost

What a desert trip costs, by type

Per-person prices in US dollars from listings with at least 10 reviews, checked on 20 October 2026. Bar: cheapest to typical price.

Half of all Hurghada quad reviews on GetYourGuide sit on listings priced at about $17 or less, and the median quad listing is about $20. Super safari combos run from about $22 to $52, and reviewed buggy-only trips from about $45 to $95. The "from" price is the cheapest option and is per person unless the listing prices a vehicle or group.

Then add the cash on the day. Prices usually cover Hurghada hotels; from Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Gouna, Soma Bay or Safaga many sellers add €5–15 per person, often in cash. Some listings add a cash "safari fee" of about €5–10 per person (look under "Not included"), and scarves and goggles cost around €5 each at the station. Photos are optional; a modest cash tip in small notes for the guide and driver is expected, but nothing is compulsory.

Before you book: checks that matter more than the stars

Booking a well-rated quad ride without surprises

  1. Open the listing and read the operator's name. GetYourGuide is the booking agent; your contract is with the local operator named on the listing.
  2. Ask how many minutes you ride and whether a buggy or jeep leg is included.
  3. Check that your resort is in the pick-up area, and what the supplement is.
  4. Read "Not included" for a cash safari fee, scarf and goggles, photos and dinner.
  5. Check the minimum driver age (16 on every quad listing that states one) and whether a double quad or buggy option exists for a child.
  6. Ask for a helmet and wear it; check that your travel insurance covers quad biking.
  7. Expect to sign a waiver — read what it says about damage to the quad.

The UK Foreign Office is blunt: "There have been several serious quad bike accidents involving British nationals in resort areas" and "Always wear a crash helmet" (FCDO safety advice). Many UK policies exclude quads or need an adventure add-on (InsureandGo's quad-biking page is one example), and GetYourGuide includes no insurance.

Egypt requires desert trips to be run by companies licensed by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities; there is no public register, so ask to see the licence and its expiry date. If a well-rated listing and a hotel-desk trip are both on your shortlist, our hotel desk review shows what TUI's channel adds (accident insurance, a 24-hour refund) and what it costs: from £31 for a 4-hour quad on musement.com, TUI's activity platform, when we checked. For how the platform itself works, see GetYourGuide in Hurghada.

FAQ: best quad tour and best desert safari in Hurghada

What is the best quad tour in Hurghada?

On rating and volume together, the desert quad with camel ride and optional BBQ: 4.9 stars on 3,798 reviews, from about $29. For a cheaper, shorter ride, the two-hour Makadi Bay ATV Tour (4.7 on 3,168 reviews) is the best-rated budget option.

What is the best desert safari in Hurghada?

For daytime, the quad, buggy and camel combo rated 4.8 on 2,398 reviews. For an evening with dinner and a show, the quad-and-buggy dinner safari rated 4.7 on 1,455 reviews. Expect 30–45 minutes on the quad and 15–30 in the buggy inside the longer trip.

What is the best ATV tour in Hurghada for a family with children?

A buggy trip, not a quad: under-16s cannot drive a quad, but a child can sit beside a parent in a buggy (from age 4 on TUI's trips). Check the age rules in the option you pick.

Are reviews of the best desert safaris in Hurghada reliable?

GetYourGuide only accepts reviews from people who booked, and its terms forbid supplier-written reviews. A high rating held over thousands of reviews is a good signal; a perfect score on a handful is not. The platform's own sort order includes commission, so sort by reviews yourself.

How long do you actually ride on the best quad tours?

Usually 40–60 minutes inside a 3-hour trip, about 90 minutes on a 4-hour private trip, and two hours only where the listing says "2-hour quad". Ask the seller for riding minutes before you book.

Is a quad tour in Hurghada safe?

It carries real risk. The UK government reports several serious quad accidents involving British nationals in resort areas and advises always wearing a crash helmet. Choose a trip with a briefing and test lap, ride at the guide's pace and check your insurance covers quads.
