Verdict in one line: Scorpion Safari is Hurghada's best-documented desert operator, publishing programmes, minutes, inclusions and prices, and the GetYourGuide listings with its programmes are among the best rated — but its cheapest combos are a taste of the vehicles, not a long ride.

Verdict
4.1/ 5
A real station operator with an address, two stations and a full price list in dollars. Every activity page says what is included and excluded, and the matching GetYourGuide listings rate 4.7–4.8 on thousands of reviews. The catch is the riding: 30 minutes on a quad inside a 3-hour trip is normal here, and transfers from the outer resorts are not included in the direct prices.

Cons
- Short riding on the combos: 30 minutes of quad, 15 of buggy

Who Scorpion Safari is
Scorpion Safari is a Hurghada desert-safari company with its own website in English, German and Russian. Its published address is Safari Land, Sector 74A, Hurghada — Safari Land being the desert zone of numbered sectors on the Safaga road past the airport where many Hurghada quad stations sit. It runs a second station in El Gouna. The stations list a kids' area, a bazaar and a Bedouin restaurant.
The company says it has more than 18 years of experience and calls itself the only Hurghada company dedicated entirely to desert safari; neither claim can be checked. Its About page also describes a "Green Zone", farm programmes, a horse-riding school and a "horse hotel", and it sells Sharm el-Sheikh and Marsa Alam trips too.
Its fleet: quads, buggies ("baggy" or spider buggies on its site), 4x4 jeeps, camels, horses and telescopes; no makes or engine sizes are published. Name trap: scorpion-safari.com, with a hyphen, is an empty page, not this company — the real site is scorpionsafari.com.
What Scorpion Safari sells: programmes and direct prices
Scorpion's activity pages give the minutes. Prices per adult and child, in US dollars, as listed on its own site when we checked:
| Programme | Adult / child | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Jeep Safari Tour | $29 / $15 | 25 km by jeep each way, village, camel, tea, herbs, dinner show |
| Discovery AM Tour | $35 / $20 | 3 h: 30 min quad, 15 min buggy, jeep 25 km each way, village, camel, tea, herb "pharmacy" |
| Super Safari | $35 / $17 | pick-up 11:00–12:00, quad 30–45 min, buggy about 30 min, 4x4 about 25 km, camel at sunset, dinner and show |
| Quad Safari ATV (Adults Only) | $35 / $17 | about 25 km and about 1 h each way by quad to a village, morning or afternoon |
| Discovery PM Tour | $36 / $18 | 14:00 start: 30 min quad, 15–20 min buggy, dinner, belly dance, tanoura, fire show |
| Super Quad Safari ATV (Adults Only) | $40 / $20 | 15:00 start, 25 km each way by quad, village, camel, dinner and show |
| Stargazing Safari | $42 / $20 | 17 km off-road to a camp in the hills near El Gouna, sunset, dinner, telescope |
| Discovery with Stargazing | $55 / $27 | the Discovery tour (15 min buggy) extended into a stargazing evening |
| Mount Shaib el-Banat with sandboarding | $60 / $30 | jeep to the Shayeb el-Banat area, Umm Dhalfa spring, sandboarding, dinner and show |
| Dry Canyon (Wadi Belli) | $45 / $23 | 4x4, a canyon walk and cave, sunset, dinner, telescope |
| Gattar (Qattar) mountain | $150 / $75 | more than 40 km off-road, a hike, a Roman site (ask which), dinner, telescope; minimum 4 people |
Read the table for the minutes, not the hours: on the Discovery tours quad and buggy add up to about 45 minutes. If riding is what you want, pick the Quad Safari ATV — about an hour on the quad each way. The stargazing "oasis" is a camp in the hills, not a palm oasis.
Every activity page lists the same exclusions: transfers from El Gouna, Safaga, Sahl Hasheesh and Makadi (so the price covers Hurghada hotels only), photo sessions, the scarf and "herbs shopping". Children under 5 go free, 5–10-year-olds pay half and over-10s pay full price. The activity pages give a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before and 50 % inside 24 hours. You can pay in cash, by card or by bank transfer.
One inconsistency to note: the two quad-only programmes are marked "Adults Only" but still show a child price. Ask before you book with children; on Hurghada quad trips drivers must normally be 16 or older.

Scorpion Safari on GetYourGuide
GetYourGuide's listing summaries do not name the operator. But four listings have the same programme or name as Scorpion's own trips. GetYourGuide shows the operator's name on the listing page — check it before you book.
- Desert experience with quad, buggy and camel — our pick. It has the same programme as Scorpion's Discovery AM tour, down to the talk on herbs and natural oils. From about $45, 4.8 from nearly 2,400 reviews.
- Desert safari with quad, buggy and dinner show — the same programme as the Discovery PM tour, with sunset, dinner and a belly dancer. From about $37, 4.7 from more than 1,400 reviews.
- Oasis sunset tour with camel ride and stargazing — the same wording as Scorpion's stargazing trip, including the guide explaining "stars groups and horoscope". From about $38, 4.7 from about 1,000 reviews.
- Mount Shaib el-Banat tour with sandboarding — the same title as Scorpion's mountain day. From about $78, 4.9 from 57 reviews.

Prices: Scorpion direct vs GetYourGuide
Side by side, adult prices when we checked:
| Trip | Scorpion direct | GetYourGuide listing with the same programme |
|---|---|---|
| Discovery AM | $35 | from about $45 |
| Discovery PM | $36 | from about $37 |
| Stargazing Safari | $42 | from about $38 |
| Mount Shaib el-Banat | $60 | from about $78 |
Direct is usually cheaper, but not always: the stargazing trip costs less on the platform. And the two are not the same purchase. Booking on GetYourGuide gets you its standard refund rule (full refund up to 24 hours before) and, on some listings, reserve now, pay later; the platform's from-price may also include pick-ups from resorts that Scorpion's direct price excludes. Booking direct gets you Scorpion's own rule (50 % back inside 24 hours) and the option to pay cash.
From Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Gouna or Safaga, ask Scorpion for the transfer price before comparing (many sellers add €5–15 per person). Bring cash for the scarf, photos and tips; the herb stop is a sales pitch you can ignore. More in what desert trips cost.

Scorpion Safari Hurghada reviews: what travellers say
The three big GetYourGuide listings with Scorpion's programmes rate 4.7–4.8 on more than 4,800 reviews together — the top band among the big Hurghada combos. The testimonials on Scorpion's own site are not a reliable guide, so read the reviews on the listings instead.
One third-party review found the quad and buggy parts short — which fits the published 30 and 15 minutes. In the reviews on the listing, look for:
- how the convoy was paced and whether helmets were handed out;
- how long the camel ride lasted;
- how pushy the herb and photo sales were;
- whether pick-up from your area was included.
How to book Scorpion Safari
Booking a Scorpion trip without surprises
- Choose by minutes: Discovery for a taste of quad and buggy, Quad Safari ATV for an hour each way on the quad, Super Safari for the full day with dinner.
- Direct: book through scorpionsafari.com or its WhatsApp line, confirm the transfer price from your hotel, and note the 50 % rule inside 24 hours.
- Platform: open the GetYourGuide listing with the same programme, check the provider name on the page, and check the pick-up area in your option.
- Ask for the age rules for your children in writing, especially on the "Adults Only" quad trips.
- Ask for the operator's Ministry of Tourism licence and its expiry date; Scorpion does not publish one.
- On the day: long trousers, closed shoes, a buff and sunglasses, small cash, a passport copy, and ask for a helmet.
The UK government notes several serious quad bike accidents involving British nationals in Egypt's resort areas and advises you always wear a crash helmet (FCDO). Check your travel insurance for a quad-biking exclusion before you book.

Alternatives to Scorpion Safari
For the same kind of evening elsewhere, see the super and mega safaris and the desert safari with dinner and show. For longer at the wheel, a buggy tour gives 60–90 minutes. Canyon and mountain days: the jeep and 4x4 trips; telescopes: the sunset and stargazing guide.
Other operators we review: Safari Sahara, another Safari Land station; Makadi Excursions for cheap quads near Makadi; BADU Camp for a quiet, alcohol-free Bedouin evening; and the full operator directory.
