Quad & ATVQuad excursions · by length and combo
Choose a Hurghada quad trip by riding minutes, not trip hours: most 2–5-hour excursions give you 40–60 minutes on the quad, and even a 7-hour super safari puts you at the controls for only about an hour.

Every Hurghada quad tour is sold by the hour, and the hours mislead. A listing's duration runs from hotel lobby to hotel lobby: the minibus, the briefing, the tea stop, the camel, the dinner if there is one. The riding is the smaller part. This page sorts Hurghada quad trips and excursions by length and by what is bolted on.
The short version: a short trip is a taste, the 3-hour trip is the classic half-day, an evening package adds dinner but no riding, and a super safari is a long day with three short drives in it. For the overview by vehicle, start with the quad tours guide.
Almost every group trip follows the same pattern. A minibus collects you, drives 20–45 minutes to a garage-style safari station in Safari Land, a desert zone of numbered sectors on the Safaga road past the airport, and hands you a quad. After a briefing and a short test lap, the group rides out in convoy behind a guide to a Bedouin-style camp 15–35 km beyond the station, stops for tea, flatbread and a camel ride, then rides back.
Where operators publish the minutes, the gap is plain. Scorpion Safari's own Discovery AM tour is 30 minutes on the quad and 15 in a buggy inside a 3-hour trip (scorpionsafari.com). TUI's private premium quad, run by Travco, is 45 minutes out, about 30 minutes at the camp and 45 minutes back: about 90 minutes of riding in 4 hours. On the cheap $10–17 listings riding time is not stated; comparable trips give 40–60 minutes on the quad.
Ask this one question
Ask how many minutes you spend on the quad, not how many hours the trip lasts.
| Trip format | Door to door | At the controls | Example listings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Short or 2-hour trip | 1–2 h (some 1–3 h) | short; the transfer is inside the 2 hours | Hurghada: Sunset Quad Bike, Camel w/ Opt Stargazing and BBQ, From Hurghada: Makadi Bay ATV Tour |
| Listings that state "2-hour quad" | 2–5 h | about 2 h, as stated | Hurghada: Sunrise Desert Adventure by Quad Bike & Camel, Hurghada: Desert Quad Bike Camel Ride with Optional GoPro |
| Classic 3-hour trip | 3 h | 40–60 min typical; one listing states 40 km | Desert Quad ATV, Bedouin Village & Camel Ride with Optional BBQ |
| 4–5-hour trip | 4–5 h | not stated on most; ask | HRG: 3 or 5-Hour Quad Bike and ATV Experience W/ Camel ride, From El Gouna: Dry Canyon Quad Bike Morning Tour |
| Evening package | 3–5 h | same as the daytime ride | Hurghada: Quad Bike, Camel, Show, Dinner, & Stargazing Trip |
| Super or mega safari | 5–7 h | quad 30–45 min + buggy 15–30 min | Hurghada: Super Safari Adventure with ATV, Camel Ride & BBQ, Safari Jeep, Quad, Buggy, Camel Ride with BBQ Dinner & Show |
The short trips are for people who want a taste and the afternoon back. The cheapest is the sunset quad Hurghada: Sunset Quad Bike, Camel w/ Opt Stargazing and BBQ, sold by Desert Fox Safari's Makadi Bay and Marsa Alam account on GetYourGuide, from about $12 with options of 1 to 3 hours. Like a whole family of low-priced listings, it works as an option menu: sunrise with breakfast, daytime, or sunset with dinner and stargazing. The headline price is the cheapest option, usually the ride without dinner or stargazing; transfers from outer resorts, dinner and stargazing cost more. More on that seller in our Desert Fox Safari review.
The other big short trip is From Hurghada: Makadi Bay ATV Tour, the Makadi Bay ATV tour: 2 hours in total, from about $17, rated 4.7 from over 3,000 reviews, the best-rated of the big cheap quads. It is a listing whose route matches Makadi Excursions' own Makadi Bay quad, which that company lists on its own site at €15 for 2 hours with Hurghada, Sahl Hasheesh and Makadi pick-ups included and El Gouna at €10 extra (makadi-excursions.com). GetYourGuide shows the operator's name on the listing page, so check it there. Because the 2 hours include the transfer, the riding itself is short.
Two hours suits a first-timer or anyone staying in Makadi Bay who does not want half a day in a minibus. It does not suit someone who wants to get comfortable on the machine: by the time you feel at ease on it, you are back at the station.
Two "2-hour" types
Some titles mean 2 hours door to door; others say "2-hour quad", meaning riding inside a 3–5-hour trip, like the sunrise trip Hurghada: Sunrise Desert Adventure by Quad Bike & Camel.

Hurghada Quad Biking & Buggy Safari with Oriental Show
4.6 (285)from $47
The 3-hour trip is what most hotel desks and agencies mean by "the quad": out to a camp and back between lunch and dinner. Riding time is rarely published, so take 40–60 minutes as the honest expectation and ask.
One listing gives a real number: Desert Quad ATV, Bedouin Village & Camel Ride with Optional BBQ, the quad with a Bedouin village and camel ride, says 40 km on the quad in 3 hours, from about $16 with an optional BBQ. Treat bigger round numbers in sales copy with caution.
The "Bedouin village" at the turnaround is a camp built for the programme: tea, bread, a camel ride that can last a couple of minutes, a herb stall. Pleasant, but not a lived-in settlement; see the Bedouin village guide.
Hotel pick-up in HurghadaShared minibus; Makadi and Sahl Hasheesh guests may be collected later
Safari station: helmet, briefing, test lapAbout 10–15 minutes; ask for a helmet if none is handed out
Ride out in convoy behind the guide20–30 minutes over sand and rock
Camp stop: tea, flatbread, short camel rideAbout 30 minutes; herb and souvenir sales pitch
Ride back to the station20–30 minutes
Minibus back to the hotelBack around 17:00 from central Hurghada
Where you sit in the convoy matters. The rider behind the guide gets clean air; the back of the line eats everyone's dust. Ask to ride near the front, and wear a scarf over your mouth either way.
Longer quad-only trips are rarer. HRG: 3 or 5-Hour Quad Bike and ATV Experience W/ Camel ride sells a 3-hour or a 5-hour version, from about $27, rated 4.9 on few reviews; the 5-hour option adds what the listing calls a hidden oasis with natural springs. The listing does not say where; ask the operator, and do not expect a palm-and-lake oasis. The "oases" near Hurghada are camps, farms or small spring sites.
The Dry Canyon morning tour from El Gouna, From El Gouna: Dry Canyon Quad Bike Morning Tour, is a different area altogether: El Gouna pick-ups only, training at the town's motor park, then a 40 km round trip through the Dry Canyon (Wadi Belli in tour copy) with coral and shell fossils in the rock. It takes 4 hours and costs from about $45, but you get a real destination instead of a loop to a camp. It is also the one listing that asks for a driving licence. More in the El Gouna guide.

Hurghada: ATV Safari Tour with Camel Ride
4.2 (437)from $14
The evening packages take the same ride and add a buffet, a show and the night sky at the camp. They add no riding. Hurghada: Quad Bike, Camel, Show, Dinner, & Stargazing Trip (from about $15, 4.4 from over 2,000 reviews) is typical: an option menu, so the headline price may be the daytime ride without dinner.
"Stargazing" on these listings means looking up after dinner. Unless the listing says telescope or astronomer, there is none. In winter the ride back to the station or the minibus is in the cold dark, so bring a fleece; desert nights are about 4–5 °C colder than the coast. Our sunset and stargazing guide covers the trips built around the sky, with telescopes.

Lowest price per person in US dollars, checked on 20 October 2026. The programme is comparable, but the operator, camp, riding time, pick-up area and what is included can differ: open each listing before you pay.
Both are option menus, so either from-price may exclude dinner. The Headout trip states a guided 2-hour quad ride but has only a handful of reviews and excludes scarf, goggles, photos and tips; the GetYourGuide listing has more than 2,000 reviews and, like most GetYourGuide trips, free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Operator, camp, riding time and pick-up area may differ.
The long combos are where the hours-versus-minutes problem is sharpest. "Super" and "mega" have no fixed meaning: Hurghada: Super Safari Adventure with ATV, Camel Ride & BBQ, the most-reviewed 7-hour super safari, has a quad and a "spider car" (the local word for a buggy) but no jeep; Hurghada: Mega Safari, ATV, 4x4WD Jeep, Camel w/ BBQ & Show, called a mega safari, has quad and jeep but no buggy; Safari Jeep, Quad, Buggy, Camel Ride with BBQ Dinner & Show, the "5-in-1", includes all three. Read the description for the vehicles, not the name. Full component tables are on the super safari page.
Riding on a combo is short: on Scorpion's own programmes 30–45 minutes of quad and 15–30 of buggy, then about 25 km each way by jeep, as a passenger. A reseller selling the same 7-hour title at the same price states "1 hour" on the quad. The rest is camp, camel, dinner and show: fine for the whole package, a lot of sitting if you came to drive.

Our pick here is the best-reviewed large combo, Hurghada Desert Experience with Quad, Buggy & Camel: quad, buggy and camel in 4–5 hours, from about $45, 4.8 from nearly 2,400 reviews. It is a listing with the same programme as Scorpion Safari's own Discovery tour (30 minutes of quad, 15 of buggy, jeep to the camp, tea and a herb "pharmacy"), which Scorpion sells for $35 per adult on its own site, without pick-ups from Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Gouna or Safaga. The platform price adds GetYourGuide's cancellation terms and may cover pick-ups the direct price leaves out, so it is not like for like. GetYourGuide shows the operator's name on the listing page; check it. See our Scorpion Safari review.
Summer midday
From May to September avoid the 11:00–12:00 pick-up combos: the quad leg starts around 12:30, and afternoons at the camps can reach about 40 °C. Pick a sunrise or sunset slot.

Hurghada: Full-Day Desert Quad, Camel Ride, Dinner & Show
4.2 (423)from $13
On GetYourGuide, group quads start at about $10, the median quad listing sits around $20, and half of all quad reviews are for trips at about $17 or less. Super safari combos run from about $22 to $52. Buggy-only trips start around $45. All of these are "from" prices for the cheapest option, per person, when we checked. The prices page has the full ladder.
Then the cash on the day. Prices usually cover Hurghada hotels; from Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Gouna, Soma Bay or Safaga many sellers add €5–15 per person, often in cash. Scarves and goggles are often sold at the station for around €5 each, so bring your own buff and sunglasses. Some listings add a cash "safari fee" of about €5–10 per person; look under "Not included" before you book. Photo and GoPro packages are optional: you can say no, and prices vary, so ask before the ride. Nothing at the camp's herb and souvenir stalls is compulsory.

Before paying, check the operator's name on the listing (your contract is with that local operator), what your option includes, which pick-up areas cost extra, and the cancellation rule. Expect to sign a waiver; read what it says about damage to the quad.
On safety, the UK government's advice is short: "Always wear a crash helmet" (FCDO travel advice). Some insurers make it a condition, and many policies exclude quad biking, so check yours. Wear long trousers and closed shoes: your legs can touch the hot engine. The practical guide has the rest.
Trips run from 1 to 7 hours door to door, but that includes transfers, the briefing and the camp stop. On a typical 3-hour trip expect 40–60 minutes on the quad; a few listings state about 2 hours of riding. Ask how many minutes you spend on the quad before you book.
The listings that state it: a 3-hour trip with 40 km on the quad, listings that say "2-hour quad", or the El Gouna Dry Canyon tour. Super safaris have the least riding per hour: about 30–45 minutes of quad and 15–30 of buggy in 5–7 hours.
Yes if you want quad, buggy, camel, dinner and a show in one booking and do not mind waiting at the camp. Not for the driving alone: a quad-only or buggy-only trip gives as much time at the controls in fewer hours.
No licence is asked on the trips we checked. Sellers set a minimum age, 16 to drive a quad, and give you a short test lap. The exception is the El Gouna Dry Canyon tour, whose listing asks for a valid driving licence.
Under-16s cannot drive a quad. Some sellers put a child behind a parent on a double quad, others allow single riders only; pick a listing that names a double quad or a buggy option, and check the age in that option.
