An El Gouna quad trip comes in three very different forms, and the price tells you which one you are looking at. The motocross and ATV track in town sells private rides at premium prices. The Dry Canyon tour is a mid-priced morning ride that starts in El Gouna. And the cheapest "El Gouna" quads are the same Hurghada group trips everyone else does, with a longer minibus ride and usually a supplement. Choose by how much riding you want and how much of the morning you are happy to spend in a car.

El Gouna quad options compared

Option Where it starts Format Price level
Motoclub track and desert rides south-west edge of El Gouna private only not published; platform listings from about $71
Dry Canyon morning quad El Gouna hotels, training at the motor park small group from about $45
Cheap group quad (Hurghada station) 40–60 min drive south large group, convoy from about $11, plus pick-up supplement

El Gouna is 37 km by road from Hurghada Marina (the resort's own "only 25 km from Hurghada" is measured to the city's northern edge). The main quad stations, in Safari Land on the Safaga road past the airport, are about 31 km away in a straight line — which is why El Gouna guests face up to an hour each way on a group trip.

Motoclub Egypt: the motocross and ATV track

Motoclub Egypt — listed on El Gouna's official site as "Moto Club" — calls itself the first MX and ATV track in Egypt. It has a 90,000 m² site with two tracks: Easy Ride, 1.2 km (a lap takes about 3 minutes), and the MX track, 1.8 km (about 4 minutes). It also runs private quad and jeep rides into the desert and a riding academy. The track hosted the 4th El Gouna International Motocross Championship on 2–3 April 2021.

The key rule: private rides only — solo, couples or your own group. It opens from sunrise to sunset, books by WhatsApp and publishes no prices. On GetYourGuide, several El Gouna listings use the same wording: the El Gouna quad and MX bike safari from about $135, the private quad and ATV desert experience from about $84 and the private motocross track experience from about $71; GetYourGuide shows the operator's name on the listing page. A longer desert-mountain motocross and enduro trip is also listed, with no reviews yet.

So an El Gouna motocross listing at $70–170 is not an overpriced group quad. It is a private product with your own guide and your own pace, which makes sense for confident riders, teenagers who want to learn on a proper track (check the age for each option), or anyone who hates convoy riding. For a group with a modest budget, it is a splurge.

Dry Canyon quad tour from El Gouna

The Dry Canyon morning quad tour is the one group trip that starts in El Gouna. It collects from hotels in the El Gouna zone only, begins with a training session at the motor park, and then rides a 40 km round trip to the Dry Canyon — "Wadi Belli" or "Wadi Billy" in tour copy — a dry, rocky canyon with coral and shell fossils from a time when the sea covered it. A reseller page gives a maximum of 10 riders, small for a quad tour. The trip lasts 4 hours, rated 4.3, from about $45.

Two things set it apart from the Hurghada quads. It asks for a valid driving licence, which almost no other quad trip does, and its distance is published: a 40 km round trip, more than most cheap trips state. Morning departures suit the summer heat. Do not confuse the Dry Canyon with the "Blue Lagoon" stops on the Makadi–Sahl Hasheesh side: they are different areas.

Cheap group quads from El Gouna

Most cheap quads sold to El Gouna hotels are Hurghada trips. One local agency's El Gouna price list reads "El Gouna Hotels to Safari Station in Hurghada"; a Dutch agency gives a 45-minute, roughly 30 km drive to the station. Morning versions collect at 08:00–08:15 and return around 12:15–12:30. On GetYourGuide, the quad and ATV ride with camel and sea view appears in the El Gouna section but is titled "Hurghada" — a cheap group quad from about $11 — check that your hotel is in its pick-up area.

What to expect on these trips is the standard Hurghada format: convoy riding behind a guide, a stop at a Bedouin-style camp for tea, and a camel ride of a few minutes. The agency prices in archived and marketplace lists — €33–40 for a 3–6-hour El Gouna quad morning or afternoon — include the long transfer. On the big platforms, check the pick-up supplement: El Gouna pays €8 per adult on TUI's Travco trips, €15 on Headout's 7-hour combo and €10 at Makadi Excursions and most local agencies. Riding time is not always stated; ask how many minutes you spend on the quad, not how many hours the trip lasts. Compare the main formats in the quad tours guide and the desert safari guide.

El Gouna desert safari, stargazing and jeep trips

For an evening rather than a ride, Scorpion Safari, a Safari Land operator, has an El Gouna station and runs its stargazing trip to a camp in the hills about 17 km off-road on the El Gouna side — the "oasis" of its listings is a camp, not a natural oasis. Jeep trips to the mountains and canyons (including the Dry Canyon by 4x4 with dinner and stars) are in the jeep safari guide; for the night sky, see sunset and stargazing. Most full desert safaris with dinner and show collect from El Gouna for a supplement, at up to an hour each way.

Renting a quad in El Gouna

You cannot simply rent a quad and ride into the desert. UK government advice is that off-road travel needs a qualified guide and a Ministry of Interior permit, so every desert ride here is guided. Motoclub's private rides are the closest thing to "your own quad". Inside the town, iRide El Gouna rents scooters (from EGP 2,400 a day) and golf carts, but no bicycles and no quads. El Gouna's own guidance is sensible: confirm whether a booking includes the vehicle, helmet, protective gear, fuel and insurance — and check that your travel insurance covers quads at all, because many UK policies exclude them.

Horse and camel rides in El Gouna

El Gouna's official site lists two stables, Farah Horse Stable and Habiba Horse. Habiba, German-managed and based at the northern tip of El Gouna about 800 m from the beach, publishes its rules: maximum 90 kg, age 6 and over, helmets compulsory under 18 (lent free), beginners at walking pace only. From April to November it offers sea swims with the horses, saddles off. It publishes no prices. On GetYourGuide, the El Gouna desert and sea horse ride, with optional swimming, is from about $19. More in the horse riding guide and the resorts overview.
